Ebola is now in the United States

Ebola is now in the United States. There is very little happening to prevent its spread to the general population. So what is the average person to do?

First of all we need to remember that Ebola is a virus. Antibiotics are not going to do anything. We have to look at ways to combat viruses. Secondly it is spread like a virus. The news says it is only with contact with body fluids of an infected person. What we forget is that viruses can linger on surfaces for a long time before they die. This means tables, doors, bathroom faucets, countertops. If a sick person sneezes in a room all the surfaces in the room now have a coating of virus on them. This includes the clothing of anyone in the room. They leave that room they take that virus with them.

Unless we are able to move our families out into the boonies where we never have to come in contact with another human being there is no sure fire way to prevent exposure.

Our first defense is a strong immune system.  If your family catches every illness that comes around that is a pretty good indication that the family members have weak immune systems. There are several things that we need to have strong immunesystems.
·         Hydration! We each need half our body weight in ounces per day. Anything less and we weaken our immune systems.
·         Eliminate sugars! Sugar in any form weakens the immune system.
·         Eliminate Stress! Stress weakens the immune system.
·         Get enough sleep! Lack of sleep weakens the immune system.
·         Eat your vegetables! Organic, raw foods are great for strengthening the immune system.
·         Exercise! Even gentle movement helps!

Our second area of defense is cleanliness. The anti-bacterial soaps are not going to do any good, and may even lower the immune system. Most of the bacteria in and on our bodies are beneficial. When we kill all bacteria we kill the good ones as well. We need to find ways to kill the virus rather than bacteria.  One way to do it is to wash your hands with warm water in the bathroom, then outside the bathroom door spray your hands with a diluted form of colloidal silver. Then rub them together and let them air dry. This will kill the majority of viruses. It may not take care of a full-fledged infection, but then again it just might. Nobody has done any research on it. Shipments of colloidal silver have been turned back, which doesn’t make sense to the majority of us. If it isn’t going to do any harm why not give it a try?

Vitamin C is another way to fight viruses. There are different forms of it, so look for a high potency natural product. I keep some wild rose hips on hand for emergency use.

Can we depend on the government to protect us? So far they aren’t doing a very good job.

Can we depend on big pharma to protect us? So far they seem to be chasing their tails.

Can we depend on ourselves? As long as we use common sense and keep things in perspective it is the best plan out there, but we have to start now. We need to prepare to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world if someone in our family becomes ill. This means having some high quality food in the house, enough to last for weeks or more. It also means having protective gear on hand so that we can clean up after a sick person without exposing other family members or the garbage man. Will the sewage treatment plant be able to clean the water flushed down the toilet, or will that just spread it to the municipal water sources? Those boonies are looking better and better.

Antibiotic Failure

With all the news about Ebola people are starting to become aware of the failure of antibiotics. Most of them think they have no choice but to take whatever the doctor prescribes them, then come back for more when that one doesn’t work. On top of that there are side effects to antibiotics. These can range from diarrhea to allergic reactions and even heart attacks.

Unlike Ebola which is still isolated to Africa there are ‘superbugs’ that are just as dangerous on the streets within the United States and other developed countries. Most of them can be found in any hospital. Some of them are just as deadly as Ebola. The term ‘superbug’ has come to mean any disease that antibiotics won’t kill. Most viruses would fall into this category because antibiotics are useless against viruses, always have been and always will be.

What are some of these superbugs?

MRSA - methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, found in most hospitals
KPC - Carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneuTmonia
CRE - carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. This is part of the family that includes E-coli.
Salmonella
Clostridium difficile, an intestinal infection that is linked with IBD.

All of these are becoming stronger, spreading easier and doing more damage to those they infect.  The problem is that the cleaner hospitals try to make themselves using standard methods the worse things are getting. With every known chemical antiseptic and antibiotic there are always some bacteria that survive. Over time they truly become immune to the chemicals.

So what is a body to do?

Where nature can become immune to chemicals nature doesn’t seem to become immune to nature. So when chemicals are failing us we need to return to nature to fight bacteria. Most of these natural things are also antiviral, so you are covered either way. You don’t need to name what is making you sick, and you don’t need a prescription for nature either.
            Local Honey
            Garlic
Ginger
Echinacea
Oregano Essential Oil
Olive Leaf Extract
Goldenseal

Most of these can be used topically as well as internally. Some of them can be used preventively if others in the household are sick.  Whenever you use an antibiotic internally always follow up with fermented foods and a good probiotic. This recharges your good bacteria before the bad ones can multiply and supercharges your immune system.
